The Price of a Smile
Tuesday, Apr. 13, 2004 : 4:55 p.m.
Had my orthodontist appointment this morning. Yikes. invisalign is going to cost roughly 7k. Clear or regular braces will run me about 5,400. That doesn't include getting either an implant or a bridge to put in the space that created all the problems to begin with. I don't have that kind of money! Insurance isn't going to pay for a nickel because I'm over 19 (I'm nowhere near it). That's B.S. But I need to do something. When I smile, all my front teeth look normal enough, but once you get past those it's a different story. All because of that one little missing tooth. Very frustrating. My sister and her kids all had braces so I'm going to ask her if the prices sound reasonable and if she thinks I should get a 2nd opinion. I want to get my teeth whitened when this is all said and done as well and know that costs about $500.

Gotta hit the lottery.

I watched "The Swan" last night. They should have Ms. Swan host that show. That'd be good TV. Anyway, my question is: Why are they taking these women, turning them into beauties and then telling only one of them that she's beautiful enough to move on to the pageant? And what's the pageant for in the first place?! I think this is the worst idea ever. Helping these women build their self-esteem and giving them an extreme makeover in the process is wonderful, but I think the idea of the pageant sucks. Having them go through all of that only to have one of them be rejected in the end like that is pathetic. This is why I hate reality TV. Don't even know what possessed me to watch it in the first place.

Had a nice dream Sunday night. Kevin Millar was madly in love with me and asked me to marry him. I never gave a thought to his looks until we watched him taking bp on Saturday. Wow. He's very handsome. Got a few pics of him, Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz taking bp on Saturday. We also got to see Damon's Disciples up close and personal. They were wearing shoulder length wigs, fake beards and homemade t-shirts proclaiming their faith. Wish we'd taken their picture. We couldn't stop laughing while they were walking by us. Wonder if they'll become center field fixtures. Don't know how many of them there are - I'm hoping they had the foresight to make themselves a following of 12.

So I was talking with my favorite co-worker yesterday and told her I felt guilty for not going to Mass on Sunday. She asked why, so I told her. She's a life-long Catholic and told me there was absolutely no reason to feel guilty for not going. God's not going to condemn me to Hell because I didn't go to Easter Mass. D pretty much said the same thing on Sunday.

Hey, where's my friend Mr. K? Haven't heard from him in a while. He's out near Vegas these days, that much I know. Probably wiped out a casino playing blackjack and took off to an exotic island for the rest of his life. And if he did, why didn't he invite me?!
